STOP! Update time!
Right so rather busy this week with a few things which i’ll bullet point out below but just to say I basically forgot to update my blog until I realised I hadn’t updated all week (shock horror!) so heres the run down (more detail below bullet points) :
- Bought “3D World” magazine
- Looked through various careers sites
- Began work on an update for a website I run
- Began work on an update for sn11.co.uk
- Began work on another website which I’ve been commissioned to do.
- General paid employment
- Messing about with animation in flash to make my quiz just that little more “swish”
- Finishing off my quiz basically so that it all works
So aside from some other things that have very little to do with this here blog thats just a sample of what I’ve been doing this week.
I bought 3D world magazine in hopes that it may spark a creative process within me which may inspire me to do animation or to look at it in detail… It didn’t. Although I see the creativity and the sheer awesomeness in the work I am presented with I’m still not 100% on its actual value for me.
So I took a look around and remembered a report I saw a while back on animation but can not for the life of me find it online (It was a fair while back) but the general gist was that due to there being no subsidisation for UK animators companies wanting animation work to begin are more likely to go abroad (Ireland, USA etc) in order to get cheaper work due to subsidisation.
I also took a look on the Alumni page and thought it was odd just how little virtual environments had to others (not sure of the reason behind this) and although some work is REALLY good http://alexluong.co.uk/blog/ for example, I can’t help but feel that virtual environments is great to get into if you don’t mind moving abroad or doing a lot of freelance contract based work… Neither of which I particularly would enjoy.
The website I am updating is http://newworldexotics.com. I’m including a redraft so that I can make the site with CSS and possibly add a little flash work too. I am also trying to install and get running a content management system such as Expression Engine. I have been emailed in regard to making a website for someone which will feature a music based site and reptile based site within the one website, I’ll be doing all design and content for the website so it should be interesting. My own website will also be featuring my work and links to what I’m doing as well as just being a space to try out new web based things and upload any other things I’ve tried out.
and although I am out of time in regard to actually uploading my work I’m making a reminder to remind me later on to add it asap.
